SCLERAL SHELF MELANOMA (11.5 year old DSH)


The darkly pigmented mass had been present for several months prior to this photograph. These slow growing melanomas arise from the scleral shelf and extend into the corneal stroma (white arrow) and sclera. A normal zone of sclera (black arrow) can be seen between the two pigmented masses.
